Non-injury crash lands 18-year-old in jail on DUI charges

An 18-year-old Morehead woman was arrested just after midnight Thursday following a non-injury accident where she allegedly drove her vehicle into the opposite lane striking another car.

Whitney Small was taken into custody and charged with driving under the influence in connection to a non-injury accident at the intersection of

KY 32 and U.S. 60, said Morehead Police Chief Mike Adams.

The driver of the other vehicle, 19-year-old Alyssa Dulen of West Liberty, was not injured in the crash. Also in the car with Dulen were four passengers who also escaped harm.

“It was last night about 12:30 a.m. when Officer Phillip Blackburn responded to the accident and was able to determine that Small was allegedly DUI,” Adams commented Thursday. “Apparently, Small was turning onto KY 32 at Rodburn Elementary when she allegedly turned too wide and went into the opposite lane and struck the other vehicle. We are just thankful that no one was hurt.”

Patrolman Mark Hammons investigated the accident. Small also was charged with no insurance.

Her whereabouts could not be determined prior to press time. The case remains under investigation.
