Rowan Marching Band finishes 11th at state

Oct. 30, 2012 — The Rowan County Senior High School Marching Band finished 11th out 16 bands in the Class AAA State semi-finals last weekend at Allen County-Scottsville High School.

The marching Vikings earned a score of 78.35 for a proficient rating, competing among the best the state has to offer in marching band.

Bourbon County eventually took the top spot in Class AAA during finals, held at L.T. Smith Stadium at Western Kentucky University on Saturday night.

Kevin Christie is the RCSHS band director.

    Those words from the Rev. Gene Parr began the tributes to Air Force Staff Sgt. Daniel N. Fannin, a 30-year-old Morehead native who died with three other crew members last month when their MC-12 surveillance aircraft went down in Afghanistan.
