Kees Grocery employee robbed at knife point

May 21, 2012 —       Kentucky State Police in Morehead said two men wielding knives robbed Kees Grocery and Deli Friday at 6:50 p.m.

A store employee notified Post 8 that two white male subjects had entered the store located at 7720 US60 East near Poppy Mountain Road, and had taken nearly $380 in twenties, tens, fives and one dollar bills from the register.

After the male subjects obtained the cash, the employee said the men drove west on US 60 toward Morehead in a two-door silver sedan.

An employee who answered the phone told The Morehead News that the men were wearing scarves covering their face and necks and wore long sleeve shirts.

He also said the men had threatened the employee’s life and that store policy is to yield to the demands during an armed robbery.

Anyone with information about this case is encouraged to contact the KSP at 784-4127. The case remains under investigation by Detective David Zimmerman.
