The 70-ton steam locomotive, formerly of the Morehead and North Fork Railroad, was lifted onto a trailer Thursday afternoon for its move to Sugar Creek, Ohio. Private collectors Jerry Joe and Laura Jacobson purchased the engine and plan to restore it.

Vikings beat Russell in Overtime
The Rowan County Vikings came back at home in the fourth quarter to beat the Russell Red Devils in overtime, 66-62.

Blevins, Stivers in same Senate district?
A legislative redistricting bill filed Wednesday by the Kentucky Senate Republican leadership would put Sen. Walter Blevins, D-Morehead, and Sen. Robert Stivers, R-Manchester, in the same district.
Blevins currently represents the 27th District and Stivers the 25th. The bill would move Rowan County to the 25th District which extends southward to Clay County where Stivers lives.

MSU would lose $2.8 million in Beshear budget
Gov. Steve Beshear’s proposal to cut public higher education funding by 6.4 percent would take $2.8 million from Morehead State University and reduce its state appropriation to the level it received in 2001 – just over $41 million.
