After the Lady Vikings defeated the Bath County Lady Cats in the first round of the Girls 61st District Tournament Monday night, 58-41, Rowan's boys took care of the Wildcats, winning handily, 70-42, on Tuesday night.

MSU Regents oppose bill to add new university
Morehead State University’s Board of Regents voted unanimously here Friday to ask the Kentucky General Assembly not to create another public university.
Specifically, the Regents adopted a resolution requesting the defeat of House Bill 260 which would convert the University of Pikeville (UPIKE) into a state institution, effective this fall.

Rowan remains in 5th Congressional District
The Kentucky House passed a new congressional redistricting bill Friday afternoon that leaves Rowan County in the 5thDistrict of U. S. Rep. Hal Rogers.
The Senate approved the compromise bill earlier in the day. It went to Gov. Steve Beshear who was expected to sign it.
