In a girls/boys double-header on Friday night, both Rowan County squads came away with victories at home.
The Lady Vikings defeated the Lady Royals 49-41, while the Vikings finished with a 59-47 win over the Royals.

After the Lady Vikings defeated the Bath County Lady Cats in the first round of the Girls 61st District Tournament Monday night, 58-41, Rowan's boys took care of the Wildcats, winning handily, 70-42, on Tuesday night.
Morehead State University’s Board of Regents voted unanimously here Friday to ask the Kentucky General Assembly not to create another public university.
Specifically, the Regents adopted a resolution requesting the defeat of House Bill 260 which would convert the University of Pikeville (UPIKE) into a state institution, effective this fall.

The 70-ton steam locomotive, formerly of the Morehead and North Fork Railroad, was lifted onto a trailer Thursday afternoon for its move to Sugar Creek, Ohio. Private collectors Jerry Joe and Laura Jacobson purchased the engine and plan to restore it.
