Vikings beat Bath, Lady Viks fall to Montgomery

The Vikings beat Bath on the road Friday, 75-39. The Lady Vikings fell to Montgomery County Friday night, 62-44. Rowan’s gals are slated to travel to Madison Central tonight. Rowan’s guys play host to East Carter tonight. Tip off for both of tonight’s games is set for 7:30 p.m., but the games may be cancelled due to snow. Check back later today for updated information.

  • Westbound I-64 shut down

    A UPS truck flipped on westbound I-64, near the 139 mile marker in Rowan County. The truck is blocking both westbound lanes. Eastbound lanes are not affected.

  • Football Eagles back to winning ways

    VALPARAISO, Ind. – Junior quarterback Zach Lewis tallied his fourth 300-yard passing effort this season and senior fullback Desmond Cox recorded his third straight 100-yard rushing performance to help Morehead State post a 38-14 win over Valparaiso on Saturday afternoon at Brown Field.

  • Westbound I64 Closed

    A westbound section of Interstate 64 has been closed temporarily from Exits 161 to 156.   Traffic has been detoured to US 60 west during the closure.  Check back for updates on this breaking news situation.

  • Dr. Wood sells medical practice to Ashland hospital

        King's Daughters Medical Center of Ashland announced Wednesday it has purchased the family medical practice of Dr. Earl C. Wood of Morehead.

        Wood said he would work for a month to help with the transition of his patients to the KDMC practice to be staffed by Amber Gross, APRN.

  • Woman dies in Rowan wreck

    At 9:31 a.m. on July 5, Kentucky State Police Morehead received a call for service of a single vehicle accident at the intersection of Christy Creek Road and CCC Trail Road in Rowan County.

  • Padula named RCMS principal

    Jay Padula has been named principal at Rowan County Middle School. Padula is currently the assistant principal at RCMS. The announcement was made Friday night. Padula will replace Tresia Swain who is retiring. See more information in Tuesday's issue of The Morehead News.

    The Rowan County football team held a press conference this morning to announce that Coach ShaDon Brown has resigned. Coach Kyle Singleton has been named interim head coach.
