One business owner says that another business's new landscaping is blocking its customers' access.
But Morehead officials say the landscaping is a legal distance from the street and the street itself is a two-way access.
Fay Kegley, co-owner of First Street Liquors, says the outlet of Barker is blocked so badly that her customers and vendors must turn around in her back parking lot to return to First Street.
She said that the new Eagle's Landing Pet Hospital is causing the street to become a one-way access and that her delivery trucks don't have space to drive around and exit close to KY 32.
City Planner Joe Parson said the new business's landscaping is a legal eight feet from the right of way and the fire chief can navigate the back street.
"Her beer trucks can go back and circle behind First Street Liquors, turn in the parking lot and exit onto First Street," Parson said.
As for the street exit from beside the new pet hospital, which is very close to the stop sign for KY 32, he said he would have never allowed it in the first place as a planner.
"The trucks are having a problem with the short turn onto KY 32," Parson said. He added that they might have been traveling onto the old True Value lot to make the turn.
"In the past, there has been no planning for the future and people are starting to have difficulty with so much growth going on," Parson said. “People are not adjusting, but you will see more and more change of what used to be done.”
Parson said the city is trying to update some of the old regulations.
