First of its kind

A historic home in Morehead has been renovated for use as a nightly, weekly or monthly rental house.

“The Foster House” is located at 531 West Main Street and is a 1920s home that has been updated in elegant style.

Co-owners Damon Ballinger and Sam and Daphne Lowe of Morehead decided to create this first-of-its-kind executive house in Morehead.

“We felt like Morehead needed something like this for people who come here for funerals, business, job interviews, seminars or just visits,” Ballinger said. "This house, in Morehead's older district, also helps showcase Morehead's culture.”

“The location is not too far from Cave Run,” Lowe said. “It would be a great place for four or five people who want to come here on a fishing trip or for the holidays."

The owners are marketing the entire house for rental, as it is not a bed and breakfast.

The home can be rented on a nightly, weekly or monthly basis.

It features three bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, full living room, dining room, large entry way, sitting areas and a huge front porch.

The entry and dining rooms feature original crystal chandeliers. The kitchen features new stainless steel appliances and the home has been renovated with ceramic tile and original hardwood floors.

“We've maintained a lot of the character of an old house and added modern amenities,” Lowe said.

“We had very good decorators who put a lot of hours into the project,” Ballinger said.

“This is a great house, it just needed some restoration and updated amenities,” Lowe said. “The appliances are new and there is a television in the living room and internet access.”
