Viral video: Olympic swimmer wins gold, then proposes

How do you top the euphoria of winning a gold medal in a swim meet? Propose to your girlfriend, of course.

Matt Grevers, 26, did just that after winning the 100-meter backstroke at the Missouri Grand Prix on Saturday.

The swimmer was on the medal stand, and after a woman placed the medal around his neck, he pulled her up onto the stand and got down on one knee. That woman happened to be his girlfriend and fellow swimmer, 24-year-old Annie Chandler.

Chandler said yes, and the whole thing was caught on camera.

Grevers told the Associated Press that he had planned to propose a day earlier, after Chandler competed in the 100-meter breaststroke. But when she placed fifth, Grevers put his plan on hold.

Grevers is a medalist from the 2008 Olympics, and Chandler hopes to qualify for her first Olympics this summer in London.
