Pork projects will always be pork

The editor:

The big thing in the news these days is Bailout and Pork. Pork seems to be the thing that they are beating around the most. Pork in Washington is like people: there are good ones and bad ones. The bad ones seem to be for other people, while the good ones seem to be for Morehead and vicinity. A good example is the Perkins building. If it had not been for Representative Carl Perkins and pork the people of Morehead and vicinity would not have this great building, and the apartments by it, plus the apartments across the street. Representative Perkins and pork also gave us Cave Run Dam. What would the people of Morehead and the miles around us do without it for water? Some people called him the Beaver while in truth he was just 40 years smarter than the kibitzers. So pork will always be pork whether it is for you or for me. There are so many other places in eastern Kentucky that will always remember Carl Perkins for his dedication to his district and his love for the people of Kentucky.
