Drug proof your kids

The editor:

There’s a new reality for our kids today, one that we as parents would never have thought probable. How we respond to that reality affects not only our children, but their children. The disturbing truth is that many parents whose children have used or are using drugs hide their heads in the sand until their child’s habit; their addiction, no longer allows them the comfort of denial.

Inevitably there’s a point in our child’s life where they will have to make a decision to try or not try drugs. The voice most listened to in that decision is that of their parents. Although parents cannot stop their children from trying tobacco, alcohol or drugs they can be more effective at positively influencing the child’s choices.

How to Drug Proof Your Kids, a program of Focus on the Family will be facilitated by Pastor Jim Varney of ENOUGH at Heritage Free Will Baptist in Boyd County Friday, Sept. 18 and Saturday, Sept. 19. Call 606-928-4036 for more information or email rterry.eclipse@live.com. The lure is strong and the effects devastating for those unprepared to handle their child’s reality.
