Inspiration center cookout thanks
The editor:
The clients and staff of the Morehead Inspiration Center would like to thank you for your article about the center and the cookout. We could not have had such a wonderful family outing if it had not been for the businesses and Morehead community members that made our cookout possible.
As many of you know, we are a long-term residential drug and alcohol Recovery Kentucky center. In the peer-driven social model of recovery we believe and teach that it is vital that our clients and realize that they can have fun and enjoy life without drugs or alcohol. This beautiful summer day started off with food, fellowship, games, speakers, and tours of the facility. All donations are greatly appreciated and made for a wonderful event.
A huge Thank You goes out to: Wal-mart, All Seasons, Save A Lot, Lowes, Caudill Signs, Big Lots, Lee’s Famous Recipe, Mr. Gatti’s, Slone’s Market, Dairy Queen, Wendy’s, McDonald’s, Kroger, Food Lion, Morehead City Park, Northcutt & Son Funeral Home, and Citizens Bank.

In this day and age with the hustle and bustle, and everyone busy with their own problems and concerns, it is really wonderful to run across somebody who gives of their time and talents for the homeless animals.

Thanks for helping after accident
I was involved in a one-car accident on Cranston Road on June 23. After flipping and rolling my car, my first image and audio was a man asking me if I was OK. I later learned he was “Mr. Stacey,” whose parents ran Stacey Grocery for so many years on Cranston Road.

Area has many existing attractions
Visions of a Rails for Trails through our community, surrounding areas and parts of Appalachia seem as a splendid idea. However, thoughts of the hiccups and obstacles that have submerged for many years exhaust me.

Good news on front page is welcome
I wish to commend you and your front page on July 6. How great it was to see those smiling faces doing a good work for someone in need as well as our community.

Drugs are evidence of underlying problem
Kentucky has only recently got a taste of the drug problem big cities have. When you’re watching someone you love slowly kill themselves with pills, it’s easy to blame the dealers or “doctors” in Florida doling out the stuff like it’s candy.

Many benefits of Rails to Trails
The Rails to Trails would be the most inclusive family activity that could ever be completed in Rowan County or this region. I want to elaborate on some of the positives relative to the Trails that you can seek from your Internet service or from other individuals that have previous experience with Trails in proximity to our state.

Early newspaper pioneers
I used to work for The Morehead News in 1934; my salary was four dollars a week and a free pass to the picture show.
