To the citizens of Rowan, Carter, Elliott, Menifee, Morgan, Bath and Fleming counties: this is in regard to the “Sale to Benefit Hungry” and “Citizens Organize to Feed the Needy.” These articles about Morehead/Gateway Helping Hands were stories in The Morehead News on Dec.15 stating this group was organized in October 2009. We want to clarify that our “Helping Hands” organization given by “The Voice Program” with Bill & Bernice Profitt is not affiliated whatsoever with the group Morehead/Gateway Helping Hands.

In 2008, our family began preparing Thanksgiving dinner for the homeless and hungry to whoever wants to attend. We use our own money to purchase food and prepare it ourselves. We serve this dinner free-of-charge and do not receive donations nor do we ask for any. We feel that God has blessed us with another year of His blessings and we want to give some of it back to the less fortunate. It is sad and we pray for the elderly, widows and children who have neither a place to live nor food to eat. Our “Helping Hands” family group wants to reach out to anyone who is hungry along with a touch of kindness and a good hot nutritious meal. With God’s help, we plan on Thanksgiving dinner again in 2010 for those hungry folks and we thank God for being able to serve approximately 100-150 people each year. We want to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and Happy New Year and may God bless one and all as He has blessed us.
