March 16, 2010 —     A Morehead area sex offender was arrested March 7 when officials say he went non-compliant.

James M. Buttz, 34, of Maysville is charged with failure to comply with sex offender registration first-offense.

“He was not in compliance with the sex offender registry by not living at the address that he reported to the registry,” Kentucky State Police Trooper Joe Veeneman said. “He was arrested at 95 Rifle Range Road. Periodically they’ll send us the information on the sex offenders from Frankfort.”

According to the sex offender registry website, Buttz was convicted of rape second-degree and is in the ten-year registration category.

Second-degree rape is a Class C felony.

Buttz is lodged at the Rowan County Detention Center under a $10,000 full cash bond.

The incident is still under investigation by Trooper Scott Caudill.
