Icy and snow covered roads caused several accidents in Rowan County Tuesday morning.

A two-vehicle non-injury accident occurred at the intersection of KY 801 North and KY 158 causing a Ford Mustang and a Ford F-150 pickup to collide.

According to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department, the accident occurred around 9:09 a.m.

Cara Cox, 25, of Morehead was northbound on KY 801, approaching the KY 158 intersection when the Ford Mustang she was operating hit snow and ice and slid into the Ford F-150 pickup truck operated by Samuel Cunningham, 31, of Morehead who was traveling southbound.

There were no injuries reported at the time of the accident.

Farmers Fire Department responded.

The accident remains under investigation by Deputy Sheriff Mark Cline.

Kentucky State Police received an emergency call around 9:30 a.m. that two vehicles collided on I-64.

Tara Griffey, 21, of Inez, was operating a blue 2002 Jeep Liberty eastbound on I-64 near mile marker 146 when she hit a slick section of the highway and lost control of the vehicle. Griffey struck a rock wall and bounced back onto the road and made contact with a 2003 Toyota Highlander operated by Jeremy Fultz, 34, of Lexington. The impact caused Fultz to enter the median where the vehicle rolled over once and came to a rest on the passenger side, KSP said.

Griffey and Fultz were transported to St. Claire Regional for injuries sustained in the accident. They were released from the hospital Tuesday evening, police said.

The Morehead Fire Department and the SAFE Patrol maintained traffic control.

The accident remains under investigation by Trooper David Zimmerman.

Two people were injured in a one-vehicle accident when the vehicle slid off KY 519 and struck a ditch, according to the Rowan County Sheriff’s Department.

The department received the call at 10:06 a.m. that a one-vehicle injury accident occurred at 5470 KY 519.

Cheri Hogden, 35, of Hillsboro was operating a 2003 Chevy Lumina southbound on KY 519 when the car hit a patch of snow and ice and slid into a 5-foot ditch, according to police.

Hogden and her passenger Christina Hamilton, 22, of Christy Creek transported to St. Claire Regional by Morehead-Rowan EMS for non-threatening injuries.

The Morehead Fire Department responded.

The accident remains under investigation by Deputy Cline.
