July 13, 2012 — Angela Traver was named Thursday as the first full-time director of the Rowan County Arts Center.
She had been serving as interim director on a part-time basis since March.
Her appointment at a salary of $35,000 was approved by the Morehead Tourism Commission which is jointly financing the position with the Rowan County Arts Promotion Foundation.
“I’m very excited about this opportunity,” she said. “The Rowan County Arts Center is a wonderful facility with tremendous potential. I look forward to increasing the community’s awareness of Center offerings, as well as growing events such as meeting, recitals, concerts, receptions and more. Our auditorium and gallery are truly unique spaces and we would love to see the community come to us for their next event.”
Traver is a graduate of Morehead State University and has an extensive marketing and events management background. She served as advertising and marketing manager of the Frankfort Tourism Commission and was public relations manager at Buffalo Trace Distillery in Frankfort for eight years. Earlier, she was a graphic artist for print publications in New Jersey and Japan.
“We are pleased to welcome Angela to this new position as the result of a search process that produced several strong candidates,” said Keith Kappes, tourism chairman.
“Tourism is investing in this partnership because of our commitment to promoting the historic Rowan County Arts Center as a destination for visitors and as a wonderful community asset,” he added.
The RCAC’s new website can be found at www.rcartscenter.org for more information on programs and renting the facility.
