August 31, 2010 —     A former Morehead Inspiration Center Program Director and Pathways employee was sentenced Friday to two years in prison for child pornography. Raymond Leist III pleaded guilty to the possession of matter portraying a sexual performance by a minor and was facing a maximum of five years for the class D felony.

Leist was found to possess 15-22 images of child pornography in an investigation by Morehead Police Department Detective Sgt. Matt Salley.

“I received information that Mr. Leist possessed the material on multiple computers, both at his work and home,” Salley said. “Enough probable cause was developed and a search warrant was issued for those electronic items.”

Leist’s attorney Don Major filed a motion for probation that was denied by Circuit Judge William Lane. Leist will now have to complete sexual offender treatment, as a condition of his plea agreement.

Salley was also aided in the investigation by the Kentucky State Police Computer Crimes Unit through their forensic examination.
