Chickabiddy Frozen Yogurt…fun name with no guilt

June 8, 2012 — “Pick a flavor, load a cup, pile it on, weigh and pay!” is the motto at Morehead’s newest business located at the Patrick Center Plaza on Flemingsburg Road.

Chickabiddy rotates 12 of 160 flavors of frozen yogurt, custard and sorbet daily. All are non-fat, low-fat or no sugar added and can be combined with any of 40 toppings to create what the company calls an “un-guilty dessert."

The self-serve yogurt bar’s Morehead location is owned and operated by two Morehead State University graduates. Sean Harris, a Louisa native, and Elizabeth Stamper of Olive Hill created the Chickabiddy franchise with Morehead’s location dubbed as its corporate store.

“We had both decided we were tired of the corporate world after several years as regional managers and decided to get out,” said Stamper. “Sean’s wife Beth (Roark) and I grew up in Olive Hill together and we all wanted to get back to family in Kentucky,” she added.

When entering the frozen yogurt establishment, patrons choose their cup size; iddy-biddy to big-ol-biddy. Next, with your cup in hand, you proceed down the self-serve yogurt machine aisle mixing any amount and combination desired (perhaps dark chocolate and peanut butter for a Reese’s Cup or marshmallow yogurt and orange sorbet for a Creamsicle).

Next you move on to the toppings bar where fresh fruit, candy bar chunks, nuts, cereals and sauces are stocked fresh daily. Finally, proceed to the register where you weigh and pay by the ounce.

“The great part is you only pay for what you decide to add to your cup,” Stamper said. “You can have as little or as much as you want, with any flavor combination you like.”

Flavors include classic favorites like vanilla and chocolate, to out-of-this-world flavors like caramel pretzel, lemon ice box pie, blueberry tart, watermelon and cotton candy. “We have a mixing menu to show customers what combinations produce some of their favorite tastes,” Stamper said.

Store hours are Monday-Saturday 11 a.m. - 10 p.m. and Sunday Noon -9 p.m. With an opening geared for Sunday, folks should visit the Chickabiddy website at www.chickabiddyyogurt.com for a full list of flavors, toppings and nutritional information.
