A Flemingsburg woman is dead, following an early morning house fire on Wednesday. The fire started at 1:56 a.m.
Brenda Williams, 47, died of smoke inhalation, according to Kentucky State Police. She was pronounced dead at the scene by Fleming County Deputy Coroner Gary Workman at 2:34 a.m.
It was reported that Williams had gone back into the home to save a family pet.
Police do not yet know what started the fire at 605 Fox Spring Ave. in Flemingsburg.
Williams’ husband, son and son’s girlfriend were in the home at the time of the fire and received non life-threatening injuries. Charles Williams, 50, Jesse Williams, 21, and Courtney Short, 20, were taken to Fleming County Hospital, where they were admitted.
“They received scratches and one got a broken arm when they were getting out of the house,” KSP Trooper Ralph Lockard said. “It has not been confirmed how that happened. But they’re going to be OK.”
The incident is still under investigation.
