The city of Morehead has a new fire chief. Mayor David Perkins made the announcement at Monday’s city council meeting.
Jeff Anderson of Wilmore, Ky. will start work April 6. He currently serves as Wilmore Fire Department’s fire chief and works in the IT Department at Asbury College. He has been Wilmore’s fire chief for 17 years.
“Our investigations are they are upset with us for trying to take him under any conditions,” Perkins told the council.
“Well, they can pray for us,” Council member Al Baldwin said.
Anderson’s salary will be near $44, 452, Perkins said.
Anderson and his wife, Sandy, have two children, Amy, 23, and Kendall, 13. Jeff, Sandy and Kendall will eventually move to Morehead. Amy will continue to work at Kentucky Bank in Jessamine County.

Parking issues top Council agenda
Administrative matters took up much of the agenda at Monday’s regular meeting of the Morehead City Council, but the perennial downtown parking issue arose again. Council discussed problems with persons being ticketed during downtown events such as Noon Tunes, and passed a motion directing Mayor David Perkins to identify means to encourage citizens to patronize Main Street businesses over the summer, which may include relaxing downtown parking rules.
