FLEMINGSBURG, Ky. – About 75 people attended a Kentucky Transportation Cabinet public meeting March 24 to comment on proposed alternatives to improve KY 32 in Elliott and Rowan counties.
But, it’s not too late to have your say. Engineers will accept comments through April 7.
Alternatives in the KY 32 Alternatives Study include widening the existing roadway, reworking short sections, constructing a completely new highway, utilizing a combination of ideas or a “no-build” option.
Maps and informational charts, as well as downloadable comment forms, are available on the Transportation Cabinet’s web site – www.planning.kytc.ky.gov. Comment forms may be submitted via email to kytc.comments@ky.gov, or by writing to Mr. Keith Damron, P.E., Director, Division of Planning, Kentucky Transportation Cabinet Office Building, 200 Mero Street, Frankfort, KY 40622.
The Transportation Cabinet wants the public’s ideas, concerns and opinions so that it can make decisions about future improvements to the roadway.
The KY 32 study began in 2007 with a $300,000 contract awarded to Wilbur Smith Associates, a Lexington engineering firm, for an alternatives study of the state route from Elliottville in Rowan County to KY 7 at Newfoundland in Elliott County.
Since then, engineers have been gathering and analyzing data and have held meetings with local officials, other stakeholders and the general public.
