Kentucky State Police in Morehead are investigating the death of an Eastern Kentucky Correctional Complex inmate.
Police said they were contacted by Lt. James Wright of the West Liberty prison in reference to inmate Kenneth E. Dearing, 33, who died at Morgan Appalachian Regional Hospital April 7.
Dearing had been transported to the hospital for chest pain at 11:31 p.m. on April 6, according to the KSP. Dearing was treated in the emergency room when he was believed to have had a heart attack and could not be revived.
Dearing apparently had no prior medical history and a small knot was found on the right side of his head along with a bruise on the small of his back, police said.
An autopsy was performed Tuesday at the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort.
The incident remains under investigation by Trooper Jeff Crase.
