Second stolen dog found

From staff reports

A local veterinarian is giving medical attention to Holstein, the pooch stolen from the Rowan County Dog Pound April 12 and found this weekend chained up at a home near Elliottville.

The American Bulldog was one of two dogs taken from the pound. An anonymous tip led to the dog’s discovery after a reader of The Morehead News recognized his photo on the front page of Friday’s edition.

The other dog stolen, Jake the beagle, was discovered last Sunday in the Clearfield area with deep puncture wounds to his neck, belly, legs and chest.

Holstein also had visible cuts and tears to his skin and was taken to a local veterinarian to be treated for the injuries.

Jake has been placed in foster care to complete his recovery.
