MPD recover stolen vehicle

By Tonia Noe-Rose - Staff Writer

A routine traffic stop Friday by Morehead Police recovered a stolen car from Carter County and landed one man in jail.

James A. Kiser, 33, of Olive Hill, was arrested about 12:16 p.m. when Patrolman Mike Curtis ran a plate check on a 1995 Isuzu pickup and discovered it has been reported taken from the owner and victim Charles Gilbert, also of Olive Hill.

”The Kentucky State Police post in Ashland had entered the truck stolen and when Officer Curtis became inquisitive about the vehicle and stopped it, he discovered the matter,” Adams said. “This is what you call good, routine police work and a great job by Officer Curtis.”

Adams was not sure of when the truck had actually been stolen. Kiser is being held in the Rowan County Detention Center on a $4,000 full-cash bond.
