Ahmadi is Junior Miss 2009


Eight talented young women took to the stage at Rowan County Senior High School to vie for the title of Rowan County’s Junior Miss 2009. Susan Ahmadi, Kiara Gabbard, Mahala Kasal, Kelsey McMichael, Kelli Oldham, Katlyn Teager, Kenna Trent, and Casey Wright walked the red carpet in a packed Caudill-Little Theatre filled with friends, family and well-wishers.

At the end of the evening, filled with exceptional displays of talent, fitness and poise, Susan Ahmadi, daughter of Seyed and Dora Ahmadi, was named Rowan County’s Junior Miss 2009. Kenna Trent, daughter of Kennith and Jennifer Trent, was named 1st runner-up and Casey Wright, daughter of John and Lisa Wright, was named 2nd runner-up in the Junior Miss scholarship program.

Preliminary award winners included: “Be Your Best Self Scholarship” Mahala Kasal; Katlyn Teager, Kelsey McMichael, and Kenna Trent each received a Scholastics Award; winners in the interview portion of the competition were Kenna Trent and Susan Ahmadi; Casey Wright, Susan Ahmadi, and Kelli Oldham received Fitness Awards; Kiara Gabbard and Susan Ahmadi were co-winners in the Talent portion; in self-expression, Casey Wright and Susan Ahmadi both received awards; Susan Ahmadi also received the Lucy Conn Moore Spirit Scholarship.

The annual Rowan County’s Junior Miss is a scholarship program sponsored by the Morehead Woman’s Club. A total of $5275 in cash scholarships were awarded during the evening.

As Rowan County’s Junior Miss 2009, Ahmadi will compete at the state level in Kentucky’s Junior Miss program, to be held in January 2009.
