House fire claims two sisters

From staff reports

Two sisters died in a house fire Wednesday after they fell through the first floor of the home and into the basement, said Kentucky State Police.

Lucy Withrow, 12, and 13-year-old Kayla Withrow were pronounced dead at the scene while four other residents in the home managed to escape the fire.

Owingsville and Salt Lick Fire Departments responded to 2453 Vista Lane in Olympia about 6 a.m. to find the house on fire.

After the fire was extinguished, both victims were discovered in the basement. According to police, an 11-year-old male juvenile was released Wednesday from the hospital. The mother Mary Etta Withrow, 57, and a 15-year-old female juvenile remain in critical condition at the University of Kentucky Medical Center. The father, Virgil Withrow, 56, is in stable condition at U.K. An autopsy will be performed on both victims.
