Aug. 21, 2012 — Josh Ferguson, 30, of 250 Conn Rd., Morehead, died Tuesday afternoon in a logging accident off Lower Licking Road (KY 1722).
Rowan County Coroner John Northcutt pronounced the apparent accidental death at 12:56 p.m. at the scene.
No foul play is suspected, the coroner said.
Ferguson, a captain in the Elliottville Fire Department, was logging with another man when a tree fell on him.
He was a former dispatcher for the Morehead State University Police Department.
A Rowan Circuit Court jury deliberated six hours here Tuesday before reporting it was hopelessly deadlocked in the case of Dallas Carpenter, 60, of Emerson in Lewis County, who was on trial for murder in the May 2010 traffic deaths of a Clearfield couple.
