MOREHEAD
MARCH 5 — The Morehead post of the Kentucky State Police is investigating a wreck that killed an Elliot County man Tuesday.
According to police, at 6:20 p.m. Kevin Stamper was traveling south in a 1998 Chevrolet Geo on KY 7 when he failed to negotiate a curve, crossing over into the oncoming lane striking head on a 2006 Chevrolet Impala driven by Kellie J. Vanhoose, 40, of Sandy Hook.
Passengers included 46-year-old Randall K. Vanhoose of Sandy Hook and a juvenile.
After the impact, Stamper’s Geo crossed back into the southbound lane and came to rest on the road’s shoulder, police said.
Kellie Vanhoose and the juvenile were airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital in West Virginia where they are listed in stable condition.
According to police, seat belts were in use in the Impala but not in the Geo. The case remains under investigation by Trooper Chris Jones and Detective Toby Gardner.
