A Salt Lick woman was found dead in her holding cell at the Rowan County Detention Center Saturday, Aug. 8, according to police.
Kentucky State Police said Tina Watkins, 27, was found unresponsive in the holding cell around 5:10 a.m. She had been charged with driving under the influence and was taken into custody by the Morehead Police Department, the KSP said.
No foul play is suspected. An autopsy was performed Saturday at the state medical examiner’s office in Frankfort by Dr. Cristin Rolf. Rowan County Coroner John Northcutt, who pronounced Watkins dead, said Monday autopsy results are pending awaiting toxicology results from the lab.
The incident remains under investigation by the Rowan County Coroner’s Office and KSP Detective Larry Bowling.
