Two Fleming County couples are in jail charged with wanton endangerment after Kentucky State Police and the Flemingsburg Police Department responded to a complaint of their infants allegedly playing in the road.
Timothy Benton, 26, is charged with wanton endangerment and resisting arrest. Shayla Benton, 21, is charged with wanton endangerment of their two-year-old child after police were called to their residence on Helena Road.
Tyler Benton, 21, and Amber Benton, age not given, were also arrested on charges of wanton endangerment of their seven-month-old infant and three-year-old child. Police arrived at the residence Aug. 25 and discovered the two toddlers without adult supervision standing with two passersby near the road.
Tyler Benton and Timothy Benton are brothers.
Officers allegedly found the four adults severely incapacitated due to alcohol consumption, with the small infant in the residence. FPD officer Falon Fugate then assisted Fleming County Social Services in removing the children from the home due to unsanitary living conditions.
All four are lodged in the Mason County Detention Center.
The incident remains under investigation by KSP Trooper Eugene Robinson and FPD officer Fugate.
