A “Walk and Bicycle Ride in Defense of Creation” will be held in Morehead for a more sustainable Earth.
A petition will be available for participants to sign to encourage them to adopt a goal of lowering CO2 carbon emission standards. The walk and ride will be Saturday, Oct. 24. The one-mile walk and five-mile ride both start and end at the Rowan County Public Library parking lot.
“We need to let the leaders of our nation know that we want an International Climate Treaty which provides all of the world’s people with a sustainable future,” Morehead United Methodist Church Good Stewards event organizer Greg Dike said. “Given that we refused to sign the Kyoto Accord (international climate treaty). We made a choice of economics over the lives of future generations of the world’s people. It’s critical that our collective voice be heard in Washington, D.C. and around the world.”
Walkers and riders in support of lowering the CO2 emissions should be at the public library at 8:30 a.m. and ready to start at 9 a.m.
