Thanksgiving Dinner for seniors is Nov. 24

By Vanessa Overholser - Staff Writer

The Fraternal Order of Police (FOP) is hosting its 25th Annual Senior Citizens Thanksgiving Dinner Nov. 24 at the Rowan County Middle School cafeteria at 5:30 p.m. FOP members encourage all senior citizens to attend.

Seniors will get to enjoy turkey, dressing, sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes, corn, pumpkin pie, rolls and a drink, said Mike Jones, FOP vice president.

“The dinner is free and open to all senior citizens,” Jones said. “There will be a Morehead Transit van that will be going to Morehead Authority housing complexes in Morehead. The driver will make stops at Rawcel Heights, Triplett View Apartments, Divide Hill Apartments and Heritage Place. They will come to pick up any senior who needs a ride.”

The FOP organizes and sponsors the event each year.

“Every year we have a great turnout,” Jones said. “The RCMS cooks prepare the food and do a great job. The food is wonderful and everyone has a great time.”
