A Morehead man has been arrested for allegedly sexually abusing a teenager.
Robert L. Sweeny, 22, of Clearfield is charged with sexual abuse, first-degree.
“It’s still an ongoing investigation,” Kentucky State Police Trooper Josh Pigman said. “Right now we have served and issued the warrant for Mr. Sweeney. I can’t release the victim’s name because she is a juvenile. The victim was 15 at the time of the alleged abuse.”
The KSP received a report from Social Services that a juvenile said she had been assaulted sometime in December 2008, according to a criminal complaint filed Nov. 18.
According to Rowan County Detention Center officials, Sweeney was booked Nov. 17 and released the same day after posting a $5,000 bond.
“Once it goes through we have to let the system to do its job,” Pigman said.
The arresting officer was KSP trooper D. Zimmerman.

Parking issues top Council agenda
Administrative matters took up much of the agenda at Monday’s regular meeting of the Morehead City Council, but the perennial downtown parking issue arose again. Council discussed problems with persons being ticketed during downtown events such as Noon Tunes, and passed a motion directing Mayor David Perkins to identify means to encourage citizens to patronize Main Street businesses over the summer, which may include relaxing downtown parking rules.
