Morehead Police are investigating a burglary at the Family Dollar Store on East Main Street that occurred after hours Monday night.
According to police, the owners came to open the store Tuesday morning and found the door pried open. Police say the thieves broke into the front door and then broke into the office door in the back of the building, breaking into a safe. The thieves took approximately $3,000.
Patrolman James Sergent and Detective Sergeant Matt Salley are investigating the break-in.
During the same night the Family Dollar Store in Owingsville was broken into as well, according to police.
Anyone with information on either break-in is asked to contact their local law enforcement agency or the MPD.
