Robbery was ‘A late one’

Kentucky State Police are investigating a theft at the Midland Frosty Freeze last Sunday morning. According to police, at 3 a.m. on Dec. 27 at least two subjects pulled into the parking lot of Frosty Freeze on U.S. 60 in Bath County and stole an Ale-8 machine. The subjects used a pickup to load the machine and leave the scene.

Priscilla Patrick, who has been a Frosty Freeze clerk for 20 years, said they watched the whole theft.

“We got it on video tape, it shows where two guys get out of a truck and unplug the machine and load it in the back and drive away,” Patrick said. “They had wide wheels on the back of the truck.”

According to police, the vehicle, a newer model extended cab pick up with oversized tires, left the Frosty Freeze property and traveled west bound on U.S. 60. The subjects may be responsible for several other thefts in the area and surrounding counties.

“About a month ago someone broke into the same machine and stole the money out of it, but this time they loaded it up and took the whole machine,” Patrick said. “A girl was taking out the trash and noticed it was gone Sunday but she thought the Ale 8 Company might have came and picked it up.”

“We realized what had happened after one of our customers had mentioned it to one of the employees and then we looked at the tape.”

“The first time it was broken into it was a car that was here, it wasn’t a truck. I don’t know if the two were related or not.”

The robbery is under investigation by KSP Trooper Aaron Brown. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Morehead KSP post at 784-4127.
