Nov. 8, 2011 —
A West Virginia man died Nov. 5 following a one-vehicle accident on I-64, according to police,
Kentucky State Police said Charles Herald, 60, of Kanawha, W.Va., was operating a 1993 Dodge Ram Charger, hauling a pull behind camper, traveling eastbound at 2:23 p.m. at the 120 mile marker. The camper started to fishtail and Herald lost control of the vehicle. The Dodge left the right shoulder of the roadway. The vehicle struck a tree on the driver's side before coming to final rest.
Herald was flown from the scene to the UK Medical Center in Lexington. He was pronounced dead by Fayette County Coroner John McCarty at 3:26 p.m. Next of kin was notified by the West Virginia State Police.
Trooper Scott Ferrell, Bath County Sheriff's Department, Bath County EMS, and Owingsville Fire Department responded to the scene. The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Ferrell.

Parking issues top Council agenda
Administrative matters took up much of the agenda at Monday’s regular meeting of the Morehead City Council, but the perennial downtown parking issue arose again. Council discussed problems with persons being ticketed during downtown events such as Noon Tunes, and passed a motion directing Mayor David Perkins to identify means to encourage citizens to patronize Main Street businesses over the summer, which may include relaxing downtown parking rules.
