16 allegedly stolen cars crushed

Sept. 18, 2012 —       An arrest warrant was issued Sept. 12 for Ronnie Cole Jr., 27, of Morehead, after Kentucky State Police discovered he allegedly had scrapped 16 stolen vehicles at Pettit Mountain Metals.

Trooper William Sparks of Morehead Post 8 claimed in his citation that from Aug. 10 to Sept. 7, Cole had used a 1998 black International truck with “Sonny’s Towing” written on the side, to transport 16 stolen vehicles to the scrap metal business near Pretty Ridge Road.

Sparks’ citation stated that each vehicle was valued at more than $500 and that Cole had signed paperwork at Pettit Mountain Metals stating he was the owner of each of the vehicles.

The tow truck used in the transporting of the vehicles was seized during Cole’s arrest on Friday.

He is being held without bond at the Rowan County Detention Center on 16 counts of receiving stolen property.

No information was released concerning the makes or models of the vehicles or names and addresses of the owners.
