Lisa M. Ritter, 31, of Piqua, Ohio, faces additional charges after her two-year-old daughter, Alyssa Johnson, died early Thursday at the UK Children’s Hospital.
Ritter was arrested and jailed Tuesday after the car she was driving ran off US 460 in Morgan County and struck a tree.
Mother and daughter were taken to Morgan County ARH Hospital and the child later was airlifted to UK.
Ritter was treated for minor injuries and arrested on charges of driving under the influence with aggravating circumstances, possession of marijuana, possession of a controlled substance in third-degree, prescription drug not in original container and first-degree assault.
She was lodged in the Big Sandy Detention Center in Paintsville.
Kentucky State Police were informed that an autopsy would be performed on the child later this week.
The accident remains under investigation by Trooper Michael McPherson.
