Search yields cash, pills, pot and pistol

Aug. 21, 2012 —     A Morehead man is in jail after Rowan County sheriff’s deputies found $1,873 in cash, pills, marijuana and a hand gun in his home.

William Wolfenbarger, 56, was at his home on 110 Sunshine Lane when deputies arrived with a search warrant.

A cooperating witness provided the information needed to obtain the warrant, said Deputy Donnie Hall.

Wolfenbarger allegedly was carrying $1,790 in his left shirt pocket and $83 in his right front shirt pocket. Each amount was rolled up and tied by a string.

“He had enough money to start a change drawer or two or three,” Hall said.

Hall said there was a clear plastic pill bottle in Wolfenbarger’s waist band that contained seven oxycodone 30 mg. pills in a small clear baggie and 32 oxycodone 30 mg. pills in a larger clear baggie.

Two oxycodone 30 mg. pills were lying on the table in the foyer in plain sight, Hall said.

Deputies also found a tin that contained loose marijuana and paraphernalia.

“He had a cellphone box full of rolling papers,” Hall said. “I’ve never seen that many rolling papers in one place.”

Deputies also found one hydrocodone 10 mg. pill.

Wolfenbarger was convicted of a felony in 1999 for cultivating marijuana.

He admitted to deputies in a written statement that he was selling pills to help pay his household bills.

Wolfenbarger is lodged at the Rowan County Detention Center. He is charged with trafficking in controlled substance, first degree, first offense, possession of controlled substance, second degree – drug unspecified, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia – advertisement and possession of a handgun by a convicted felon.
