Former Eagle Pitcher Henry Mabee promoted to Double-A Birmingham

Former Morehead State pitcher Henry Mabee, who was drafted out of MSU to the Chicago White Sox organization in 2007, has recently been promoted to the White Sox double-A club Birmingham Barons. Mabee spent the first part of the 2009 season at single-A Winston-Salem before being called up on July 1.

After the 2007 season, Mabee was taken in the 19th round of the MLB First-Year Player Draft. He spent time in Great Falls (Mont.), Kannapolis (N.C.) and Winston Salem (N.C.) He has been an integral part of each organization's bullpen and has settled in as a closer.

In his first week in Birmingham, Mabee has seen action in three games and has one save to his credit. He was 4-1 with the Winston-Salem Dash (formerly the Warthogs) and had a team high eight saves with a 3.06 ERA.

A native of Victoria, British Columbia, Canada, He was 5-4 with a 4.19 earned run average and 82 strikeouts in 88 innings pitched as a senior at MSU in 2007.

Mabee joins pitcher Jon Rauch (Arizona Diamondbacks) as former Eagles playing professional baseball. Rauch, at 6-foot-11, is the tallest player in the history of major league baseball.
