Lady Vikings tear down another victory

The Lady Vikings continued their undefeated season with a win Friday night at home over Breathitt County, 62-55.

Both teams put up an aggressive show for the full-house crowd that packed into the Warren H. Cooper Gymnasium.

Natasha Kissinger led the Lady Vikings in scoring with 14 points. She shot 55 percent from the field and sank 33 percent from three-point range. At the line, Kissinger made 3-for-4. Jennifer Brockman and Kaitlyn Muncy put up 13 points each while Amber Riddle and Jenna Kiser had nine each. Adriana Neely made two from the field to round out the final score.

Kiser, Kissinger and Neely led in rebounding with five each and Brockman pulled down four. Martin and Riddle had three rebounds apiece.

Overall, the Lady Vikings sank nearly 33 percent from the field and 28.6 from three-point range. They are showing consistent success at the line, sinking just over 72 percent.

Rowan’s girls in green are heading to Morgan County on Tuesday night to face the Lady Cougars. The 6-5 Morgan team is coming off two weekend wins over Pike County and Russell.

Rowan County will be on the road again on Thursday, when they travel to Russell. The Lady Red Devils are 3-10 on their season (as of press time Monday.)
