By Elliot Collett - Lakeside Falcon Baseball
This year is the first year of Lakeside baseball, and it has been none other than a complete success so far for the team and myself as an individual player. I played baseball in Little League until I was 12 years old. Then I was pretty much burnt out with the sport. I watched my little brother play for all of his years of Little League and thought to myself that I didn't like baseball anymore. Well this year when baseball was mentioned at LCA I thought to myself that I would give it a try one more time. Well that was the greatest decision I could have made. I have loved every minute of it and I owe the majority of it to my coach, Rob Taylor, who has made the sport fun for me but made winning ever better. We started off the season against Winchester Christian and had some first game nerves, which concluded in a loss. The next game we came back with our heads up and beat Bluegrass Baptist, and have won ever since. We are now 10-1 for the season with plenty of games to go. We are currently ranked number 1 in the Kentucky Christian Athletic Association (KCAA). One of the most memorable moments of this year was when we were able to play a game at Applebees Park in Lexington where the Legends play and we won 12-1 against Somerset Christian. We are a little over half way through the season now and hope to be as successful as we were in the first part of the season. We are working as hard as possible to make it to the KCAA State Tournament and win the State Title at Georgetown College in June.
