Rowan County Senior High School has named Tim Baldwin as the new head coach for the Vikings baseball team. Baldwin, a graduate of Eastern Kentucky University, is eager to begin his first high school head coaching position. Baldwin, an alumnus of Johnson Central High School, recalled playing opposite Rowan County Senior High School’s baseball team while he was in high school.
“I want to thank Rowan County Schools for giving me this opportunity. This is a dream come true,” said Baldwin. “I’ve been taught that success comes to people who believe in doing things the right way. That’s what I teach both in the classroom and on the field.”
Rowan County School Superintendent Marvin Moore spoke of the history of RCSHS Baseball.
“This school has had a rich tradition when it comes to baseball. I think Tim will be a good fit in that tradition.” Moore also noted Baldwin’s work as a classroom teacher. “I believe that you have to look for a good classroom teacher to find a good coach. Tim Baldwin is just that. If you’re successful in the classroom, you’ll be successful on the field.”
Mark Murray, principal of Rowan County Senior High School, stated, “I’ve known Tim Baldwin almost all his life and I know his background. We are most excited to welcome Tim into the Viking Family. Tim will be a great asset to the program building on this school’s rich baseball tradition.”
