Vikings and Lady Vikings win big in 61st District opening round

May 23, 2012 — Both the Rowan County baseball and softball squads moved forward in the postseason Monday night.

The Lady Vikings completed a five-inning mercy of Menifee County, winning 11-0.  The Vikings didn't end its matchup against Bath County in five, but they did win big, claiming an impressive 15-4 victory.

In a repeat of this season's 61st basketball tournaments, the Lady Vikings will take on Fleming County in the softball finals at 5:30 pm tonight, with the Vikings set to do battle against Fleming at 7 pm.

Both games will be played in Owingsville.

Be sure to pick up Friday's edition of The Morehead News to see if both Rowan teams can bring home the 61st District hardware.
