Morehead State junior forward Kenneth Faried has been named as the Ohio Valley Conference men's basketball Player of the Week. It marks the third time this season he’s been honored by the league.
Faried tallied two double-doubles to raise his total to 12 for the season in leading the Eagles to two victories and extending their winning streak to eight games. He scored 12 points and pulled down 16 rebounds against SEMO. He had three blocks and shot 50 percent from the field versus the Redhawks. He scored 22 against EIU, his best scoring game in conference this season. Faried also pulled down 15 rebounds, two steals, shot 53.8 percent from the field and 8-of-10 at the line. For the week he averaged 17 points and 15.5 rebounds.
Morehead State entertains OVC newcomer SIU-Edwardsville Tuesday night at 7 p.m. at Johnson Arena before heading to arch-rival Eastern Kentucky Saturday for a 7 p.m. tip-off.
