The Viking football team will travel to Estill County tonight (Friday).
This is Estill’s first home game of the season and they are coming off a week two win over Bourbon County, 28-14.
Offensively, Estill will work from the double wing formation. The double wing offense is a chip off the old wing T playbook. The offensive linemen will be almost foot to foot and the ball will be run behind six and seven blockers. The offense is designed to shorten the game with the slow tempo and inside the runs.
Defensively, they will play a 4-4 and 6-2 goal line type defense against us. They will play cover 3 in the secondary and try and get eight and nine people to the line of scrimmage to stop our option attack.
Overall, Estill has improved in phases of the game. Their kids look excited to play the game and their coaches have the same intensity. I think it will be a good game because it’s the home opener for them and they are coming off a big win in the grid over Bourbon County.
Our kids better come ready to play because I know Coach Jones and his staff have preached to their kids how we beat them last year. The coaches at Estill attended our game with Morgan a couple of weeks ago which gives them an advantage.
