Coach's Corner: Donnie Tyndall

Three and a half years ago I accepted the job as Head Men’s Basketball Coach at Morehead State University. At that time my biggest concern about inheriting the program and the record of the previous season was whether I could rally community support for the program. I found out very quickly that the Morehead community was ready to support the program by their letters, e-mails, encouraging words and attendance at the games. I have been overwhelmed by the kindness and generosity of the citizens of Morehead and the college/campus community. Even though we had to scrap and claw our way through some of the games, you were with us in that first season. You stood with us, encouraging us, letting me know in words and deed that you were Eagle fans, all the way to the NCAA tournament. Seeing your smiling faces and hearing the cheering for the team is something that lifts our team through each game.

Now that we are in the fourth season your encouragement, letters, and e-mails are every bit as important to us as they were in the first year. So, I have two special requests of you.

1) Please, whatever you may have planned for Saturday, January 23 at 7pm, we need you in Richmond. Nothing would make me happier than to see you, and hear you cheering and clapping tomorrow at the Eastern Kentucky game in Richmond. I would love to see as much, or more, Eagle blue and gold in the arena as the EKU Colonel’s colors.

2) Please make every effort to come to the remaining home games this year as we try to capture another appearance in the NCAA tournament. I can’t tell you enough how important your presence and enthusiasm at the games is to the outcome of these events.

Thank you for all your kindnesses. Go Eagles!

Donnie Tyndall
