MYL Basketball action
The Morehead Youth League’s fifth and sixth grade basketball teams were in action again Tuesday night. The Bulls took down the Wildcats, 30-25.
The Bulls were down 10-4 in the second quarter when Michael Fultz caught fire, throwing down eight of his 10 points. Chris Roberts put up 10 in the fourth and Adam Davis sank six to round out the top three scorers for the Bulls. Caleb Castle led the Wildcats in scoring with eight points. Dalton Crockett put up six while Collen McKenzie and Kayne Perry had four points each.
The Celtics beat the Suns, 16-4. The Celts led 4-0 in the first quarter and both teams battled through a scoreless second quarter. Khi Adkins and Ben Moore each sank two points for the Suns. Kobe McWhorter led the Celtics with eight points. Austin Sloan sank six and Nick Anderson put up two.
The Spurs took the Cav’s, 23-20. The Cav’s took an early 5-0 lead and held on for 5-2 at the half. The Cav’s continued to outscore the Spurs 9-7 in the third quarter, but the Spurs buckled down to put up 14 points in the final round for the win.
Jacob Wilson led the Spurs in scoring with six points while Adrian Kidd and Austin Meade put up four each. Caleb Maze led the Spurs with nine points. Jonathan DeHart and Matthew Wilson each had four.

Kentucky Fish and Wildlife opens nearly 1,300 acres to public use
Hunters have 1,293 additional acres to enjoy for the 2010-11 hunting season at the new Marion County Wildlife Management Area (WMA) and State Forest, located southeast of Lebanon. The WMA officially opens to the public on Saturday, Aug. 21.

Teater finishes tied for 18th at Wyndham Championship
Former Morehead State men’s golfer Josh Teater finished tied for 18th at the PGA Tour Event Wyndham Championship at Sedgefield Country Club in Greensboro, N.C. Teater shot a 14-under par 266 (66-68-67-65).

The Lady Viking volleyball team found their rhythm this week with two wins on the road. On Tuesday night, the gals in green traveled to Lewis County to nab a 2-0 victory.

Soccer gals go 1-1 on the road
The Lady Vikings are 2-2 on the season after going 1-1 in week two. On Monday night Rowan’s gals traveled to East Carter and suffered a 6-0 loss to the Lady Raiders.
