Feb. 3, 2012 —
Rowan County completed the clean sweep of Morgan County as the sixth, seventh and eighth grade squads all came out with wins in dominate margins of victory.
The eighth and sixth grade squads each had 20-point wins over the visiting Cougars, while the seventh grade impressed the home crowd with a 50-point win, scoring 62 while restricting Morgan to 12 points for the entire game.
All the middle school boys’ teams were in action last night after press time, as they took on Russell in the home finale to bring the regular season to a close.
The Morehead News will have more on the middle school’s regular season conclusion in next Tuesday’s edition.

The Rowan County Vikings knew theirs quite well, pulling off its second victory over Fairview in four days on Wednesday night, 1-0. Three up, three down was the story for the visitor’s offense, as Rowan’s boys laid down the shutout.

Former UK star set to host local hoops camp
A free regional basketball camp conducted by former University of Kentucky all-star Jeff Sheppard will be offered by Operation UNITE this summer. All school-age youth are invited to participate in the Shoot Hoops Not Drugs program Tuesday, June 5 in Rowan County at the old middle school gym, 415 West Sun Street.
